About Antequera Entorno Natural and the Opus Foundation
The Opus Foundation is a non-profit charitable organisation, registered in Andalusia, Spain. Its purpose and main mission is the recovery of natural spaces and to promote the preservation of the environment in unique spaces in Spain through social involvement, education and collaboration.
The Opus Foundation has provided the necessary funding to acquire the land and farms of Antequera Entorno Natural, committing to the first development and implementation stage of the necessary facilities to make this resilvestration project a reality.
The Foundation works to regenerate spaces where wildlife can flourish and survive the environmental and human impact. The Opus Foundation also aims to enable local communities to participate in and enjoy the natural and cultural heritage of the natural space around them.
The Antequera Entorno Natural project is designed to promote the interaction of the communities with the nature that surrounds them in harmony and balance. At the Foundation, we wish to recover the ecosystem of the area, rehabilitate and resilvestrate the farms that are part of the initiative to their original state, and protect the existing life by opening trails and routes on which every visitor can walk and enjoy a unique space.
The improvement of the routes and their proximity to Antequera will enable visitors to enjoy an experience in direct contact with wildlife, designed to promote nature tourism and alternative outdoor activities.

Antequera Entorno Natural is constantly evolving, undertaking various works and improvement processes, not only for the resilvestration and recovery of the ecosystem, but also to be able to offer facilities and routes that are perfectly conditioned for your visit and enjoyment in the coming months.

FAQs
Can I come in with food and drink?
Yes, just remember to keep the premises and picnic area clean and pick up any litter. Remember that barbecuing is not allowed.
Can I stay at the site overnight?
According to the new Natural Resources Management Plan (Plan de Ordenación de Recursos Naturales, PORN), it is forbidden “to park caravans, motorhomes and similar vehicles for overnight stays from sunset to sunrise”, and camping is not allowed within the boundaries of Antequera Entorno Natural.
What time does it open and close?
- Antequera Entorno Natural is open during the day. The car parks are open 24 hours a day
What is the ticket price?
Access to both Antequera Entorno Natural and the Visitor Centre is free of charge. The only cost, if you wish to use it, is the parking fee.
Is a permit required to use the routes?
Antequera Entorno Natural has 3 routes for which no permit is required: Ruta del Norte, Ruta del Lago and Ruta de La Magdalena. These hiking routes are freely accessible, free of charge and signposted.
Are pets allowed?
Within the Network of Protected Natural Spaces of Andalusia (Red de Espacios Naturales Protegidos de Andalucía, RENPA), which includes Antequera Entorno Natural, all domestic animals are required to be on a lead and comply with the corresponding sanitary and hygienic conditions. Pet droppings should be picked up and dog waste bags and containers provided should be used.
Is hunting allowed?
Hunting is not allowed within the Antequera Entorno Natural enclosure.
Are bonfires allowed?
No, they are not. Similarly, the use of cigarettes and fires is forbidden, especially in the summer months, to prevent negligence that could start a forest fire during a period when, due to the adverse weather conditions, an accident that is not addressed swiftly can have serious consequences for the natural environment.
How can I get there without a car?
There is still no direct public transport service to Antequera Entorno Natural, so if you do not have your own vehicle or hire one, you have several options to choose from to visit us:
Access by taxi from Antequera. There are different companies and associations of taxi drivers in Antequera that offer closed packages and several fares.
Access from Convento La Magdalena Hotel.
